San Jose, some visitors may be less than enchanted by the urban sprawl, but once they get into areas like the Plaza de la Cultura and Paseo Colon, they will find that much of city's charm is easy to enjoy on foot.
Quality museums are definitely in abundance, with the best being the Jade Museum and the Costa Rican Art Museum. However, the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum is a must-see, displaying intricate gold replicas of animals that once served the ancient Diquis inhabitants as religious symbols.
When the sun goes down, San Jose gets its second wind. Neighborhood bars and pubs are popular, of course, but if your tastes run deeper, check out our other San Jose nightlife selections. Whatever your inclination, sit at the bar and relax with a cold beer, a glass of pinot noir, or a classic martini, and be sure to chat with whoever happens to be nearby – you may make a new friend or a valuable business contact.
No matter the time of year or the day of the week, the San Jose events calendar has something fun going on. San Jose venues come in all shapes and sizes, indoors and outdoors. Get a feel for San Jose’s culture by enjoying entertaining diversions such as theater performances, concerts by international, regional and national bands, public festivals, special museum exhibits, and dance recitals. Or head for the local ball field to cheer on the San Jose sports team.
One of our favorite past times is to go dancing with live Salsa and Merengue bands...dont know how to dance... NO PROBLEM, let us show you!!
